Third Year Residents

Saul Burciaga, M.D.

Dr. Burciaga was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico the largest state in the country. He went to Medical School at the University of Monterrey Mexico and did his community service in the mountains of Mexico in a community named Matachi. His passion for family medicine encouraged him to find a program where he could improve his medical skills and knowledge without forgetting the human aspect of medicine. His goals in life are to raise his children with love and values and to serve the community with dignity and respect.

Kanaka Chelliah, M.D.

Dr. Chelliah was born in Kerala, India and completed medical school at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Tamil Madu, India. She lives with her husband and her two daughters. She came to the United States immediately following her marriage to start her new life with her husband. She loves Family Medicine due to its primary care responsibility and contact with a wide range of people. She loves listening to music and cooking Indian and international delicacies for her family and friends. Her most favorite hobby in the world however is spending time with her beautiful daughters. She believes in hard work and being respectful to everyone.

Claudio Perez-Ledezma, M.D.

Claudio is a third year resident, graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez. He is native to the border area. Lived in Juarez since he was six. He calls himself “the classic border comutter”. Has special interests in adult medicine, hospital medicine, and HIV. He collaborated for the Spanish edition of the Parkland Pocket Guide for HIV care (now available in printed and electronic format). Has been invited to speak national HRSA meetings regarding the care for Hispanic populations.

Imran Raza, M.D.

Dr. Raza is currently a PGY-3 and Chief resident. He was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and got his medical degree from Dow Medical College, Karachi. He attended Wichita State University Kansas where he received his MPH in 2004. Dr. Raza believes that family medicine is an integral and fundamental part of health care. He enjoys the diversity of this field and the challenges of treating and dealing with all age groups. Dr. Raza moved from New Jersey to New Mexico with his lovely wife Sheeba, who is also a physician.  Dr. Raza loves to perform magic and has done several shows in the past. His specialty is close up magic. He is also a collector of scale car models. He has 250 of these occupying a whole apartment room. Dr Raza believes that having a hobby is equally important as having a career and helps to relax and rejuvenate.

Lisa Stolarczyk, M.D.

Dr. Stolarczyk was born in Boulder, Colorado but spent her early childhood building tumbleweed forts in Las Cruces while her father completed his doctoral degree in engineering at NMSU. She then moved to Raton, NM with her family where she graduated from Raton High School before accepting a full athletic NCAA scholarship to play basketball at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah where she received a BS degree in Biology.

Dr. Stolarczyk completed a Ph.D. in Exercise Science at the University of New Mexico before heading off to St. George's University School of Medicine to begin her life's dream of becoming a physician. Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program brought Dr. Stolarczyk back to Las Cruces where she still plays in the desert in her spare time.

Summing up her experience as a resident, Dr. Stolarczyk says, “I have the best job in the world and live in the most enchanted land of the universe-Family Medicine Rocks!”
